Potato Pancakes – Crispy, Mild Spicy Snack

Potato Pancakes are so easy to make recipes using very fewer ingredients. These pancakes are crispy outside and soft inside having little spicy taste. Hope you like this potato pancakes as you did like my previous recipe Date Pistachio Muffins.

Ingredients For Potato Pancakes:-

  • Two Large – Potatoes(peeled and grated)
  • One Large – Onion(finely sliced)
  • Two Tablespoons – All-Purpose Flour
  • Two Tablespoons – Coriander Leaves(finely chopped)
  • One-Eighth Teaspoon – Black Pepper Powder
  • Three To Four Tablespoons – Vegetable Oil
  • Salt To Taste


  1. Peel and grate potatoes using a large grater. Place grated potatoes in a bowl filled with water to prevent them from turning brown.
  2. Wash the potatoes for two to three times with water.
  3. Drain excess water by squeezing them out with the use of cheesecloth to extract as much moisture as possible.
  4. Now add grated potatoes, finely sliced onions, and coriander leaves.
  5. Mix them well now add all-purpose flour, black pepper powder, and salt and mix them well.
  6. Heat a heavy-based skillet over medium heat. Add two to three tablespoons oil to the pan.
  7. Divide the mixture into six to seven equal portions.
  8. Take one portion in your hand and press it between your palm and fingers.
  9. Flatten it a little to give pattie like shape.
  10. If you want to make pancakes directly in the pan – when oil is medium hot but not smoking, place one portion of the mixture in a pan and press with spatula to make half-inch thick pancake. If you using hand to make pancakes -when oil is medium hot place two-three pancakes gently in a pan.
  11. After two-three minutes, the edges of the bottom surface starts to turn golden brown.
  12. When this happens, turn it upside down. It will take around two to three minutes to turn golden brown on one side.
  13. Shallow fry them until golden brown for two minutes.
  14. Remove it from skillet and placed it on the kitchen towel to absorb excess oil
  15. Prepare pancakes from the remaining mixture like the way you want. Add some more oil if required while making the next batch.
  16. Serve hot potato pancakes with cheese dip or sauce.
