Home made paneer/cottage cheese is better than what you get it from store and also the cheaper and healthiest option. Calorie depends upon milk used for making, I had used 3.5 % fat milk. Its easy recipe although its tough, if you never tried or saw your mom making paneer. And yes its a moms recipe 🙂 . What happens if you drink spoiled milk

Direct consumption is not healthy. It can cause many problems like upset stomach, nausea, vomiting and may cause diarrhea.  

How long does it takes for milk to spoil

It depend on expiry date and your consumption time as well. Always look for expiry date before buying, shouldn’t be less than 1 month. It should be consumed within a week (7 days) after opening and should be refrigerated. 

Spoiled Almond Milk

Unlike dairy products it has fewer good bacteria. Consumption may be poisonous. Its better to throw away spoiled almond milk.  

How to get spoiled milk

In order to spoil milk artificially, you can add either natural lemon juice drops or vinegar. Any kind of citric acid works for spoiling the milk.

Equipment Required

Ingredients

  • 2 liter Milk (Recommended full fat milk)
  • ½ tablespoon Lemon Juice (vinegar is alternative)

Instructions

Spoiled Milk Recipe | Homemade Cottage Cheese

  • Heat deep pan/ Kadai on medium flame
  • Pour milk in pan and wait till it starts boiling.
  • Add ½ of lemon juice to milk and wait for some more time
    Note: If your milk is already spoiled, then no need to add lemon juice.
  • After sometime, you can see the milk lumps are getting separated from water.
  • When you see the water clearly turn off the stove and allow it for 5 to 10 minutes to cool down.
  • Afterwards, take strainer and place the thin cotton cloth over it and pour the content slowly.
  • Allow the water to drain for few minutes.
  • Pour some fresh cold water to settle it and wash away lemon taste.
  • Gather the corners of cloth and squeeze the content till bottom.
    Tip: This will remove the excess of water from the content, repeat it 2-3 times.
  • Afterwards, tie a knot and keep it in plate.
    Tip: Make sure the knot is tight, this will remove the remaining water.
  • Place some heavy weight above the content and leave it for 10 hours.
    Note: Placing weight will not only help in squeezing the excess water but also give shape to the cheese.
  • Now place the entire setup in refrigerator.
    Tip: Refrigerator will allow the content to firm up, otherwise it will crumble easily while cutting.
  • After 10 hours, remove the content from fridge. You can see some water accumulated in bottom plate. Remove the cloth and untie the knot.
  • Now place the content on chopping board and cut into cube blocks. You can try many paneer recipes with this freshly home made paneer.
    Tip: This blocks can be used till week, just place it in box and refrigerate it.

Note:
  1. You can use lemon juice as well as vinegar for this recipe.
  2. No need to add the above ingredients if your milk is already spoiled.
  3. Recommend to leave for resting during night, as it give longer duration.
