How to make spearmint tea – healthy herbal tea !!

Spearmint Tea Recipe - Herbal Tea

Spearmint tea is a delightfully sweet and steaming beverage that is perfect for weight loss and nourish your overall health . It is natural, minty, and full of herbal goodness. Because of its cold, refreshing flavor, spearmint leaves are crushed and distilled into essential oils that are used in mouthwash, toothpaste, and even chewing gum. This is why spearmint is significant.

To add up an extra portion of goodness,  I’ve included a special ingredient to this tea that is really beneficial to our health. Yes !! That’s flax seeds.

Because spearmint has so few calories, this makes this tea a healthy drink to have in the mornings or evenings.

You can either use fresh mint leaves or dried leaves I was running out of stock with. So I made it with dried leaves.

Ingredients for Spearmint Tea

  • Flax seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Dried or fresh spearmint leaves – 1 tsp
  • Honey – 1 tbsp
  • Ginger – small piece
  • Lemon – A slice
  • Water – 1 cup

How To Make Spearmint Tea ? – Step By Step Procedure

Soak flax seeds
  • First, soak flax seeds in water for 2 hours, or until they form a gel-like consistency.
  • In a saucepan, bring water to a boil. Add spearmint leaves and grated ginger. Let it boil for 7 minutes.
  • Now switch off the flame . Steep the spearmint leaves in the hot water and close the lid.
  • After 5 minutes, pour the soaked water in a cup straining the leaves and ginger behind. (sorry i forgot to take pics for the following steps ! )
Add honey to spearmint
  • Once the tea becomes a little warm, add honey.
Add flax seeds
  • Then goes the soaked flax seeds  and stir it properly.
Squeeze in lemon
  • Add  a dash of lemon juice as per choice.

Tips for making spearmint tea

  • You can either use fresh or dried spearmint leaves. I used the dried spearmint leaves.
  • This spearmint tea is a hot beverage but you can still serve them cool as cold ice tea.
  • You can use any sweeteners of your choice. I used wild honey and it tastes really awesome.
