Ingredients

Palak Paneer Ingredients

  • 1 cup Heaped cup Tofu (Vegan/ paneer cubes/ Indian cottage cheese (150 grams))
  • 2 cups fresh or packed spinach/ palak (100grams)
  • 2 to 3 pieces green chillies deseeded
  • 3/4 cup fine chopped onions or 1/2 cup onion paste
  • 1/2 cup tomatoes (deserved or puree)
  • 1/2 tsp dried fenugreek leaves /kasuri methi
  • 1/2 tsp coriander powder (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp Ginger garlic paste
  • 1 inch cinnamon stick
  • 2 pieces green cardamoms
  • 2 pieces cloves
  • 1/8 tsp cumin seed / jeera
  • Oil or butter as needed
  • 2 to 4 tsp fresh cashews paste ( fresh cream (for non vegan))
  • Salt as needed

Instructions

Palak paneer Mix :-

    Tofu/ Paneer for Easy Palak paneer

    • This step is optional: Fry Tofu/ paneer in a pan with 1 tsp oil for 2- 3 mins to keep them soft you can also drop them in water and leave for 10-15 mins drain and set aside.

    Spinach paste/ spinach puree for Easy Palak paneer

    • Firstly, Clean the spinach and wash it with luke warm water.
    • Now bring spinach to boil until it turns smooth. Afterwards, turn off the flame and allow it to get cool.
    • Moreover, with the help of strainer remove the excess water.
    • For spinach puree, grind the spinach, you can add chilles (optional) and some cubes of tofu/paneer to give it creamy texture.

    How to make Palak Paneer

    • Heat a pan with oil add cinnamon cards moms cloves and cumin when they begin to splutter add onions and fry till they turn transparent
    • Add ginger garlic paste and fry until the raw smell goes away
    • Add tomatoes and salt fry till they turn mushy
    • Add kasuri methi, garam masala and coriander or cumin powder saute until the mixture leaves the sides of the pan
    • Pour half cup water and stir cook until the mixture thickens
    • Simmer the flame add the pureed spinach mix well and cook until it begins to bubble and mix switch off
    • Add Tofu/Paneer and mix, switch off the burner.
    • This step as a substitute to cream you can sock 10 cashews in warm water for 15 mins and blend to a smooth cream consistency
    • Serve Easy Palak Paneer with naan  roti or rice

    Notes

    For Spinach Puree : You can skip the adding spice step if you prefer less or no spicy.
    Creamy texture can be adjusted by adding water or more cashew paste (vegan) to it.
    Tofu Fry : Frying tofu gives a bit of crispy taste to vagan palak paneer, you can skip if you prefer to eat less calorie diet.
