Ingredients required for making Vanilla Extract

  • 4 - 5 strands Vanilla Beans
  • ¾ cup Vodka (187 ml or 6.4 ounce)

Steps for making Vanilla Extract

  • Collect all the required ingredients and equipment like 4 to 5 vanilla beans, ¾ cup vodka and jar or bottle.
  • Cut the vanilla beans vertically from middle using knife or chop them into smaller pieces.
  • Take a jar/bottle add the vanilla beans and pour the vodka, stir lightly with stirrer.
  • Make sure beans are completely immersed into the vodka.
  • Now store the jar/bottle at cool and dry place.
  • Stir the beans once a week and allow beans to steep in vodka for at least a month.
  • After completion of period, you can notice the changes in color from transparent to dark brown.
    How To Make Vanilla Extract

Notes

Just remember the longer you keep the better and potent flavour you get.
With the remaining beans from extract, allow the beans to pat dry and you can add to sugar jar to get vanilla flavoured sugar.
